WNY MRI now offers non contrast Renal MRA (renal arteries) utilizing VASC-ASL (this is a type of sequence that our Hitachi MRI scanner is able to perform). This provides a contrast free MRA method for patients with reduced renal function. No IV or contrast injection is required and the images produced are high quality and comparible to studies performed with contrast injection. The scan only takes about 20 minutes and is able to be performed feet first into the scanner.

Western NY MRI is pleased to announce that we are one of the few facilities in Western NY to receive ACR Breast MRI accreditation and that we have the first Hitachi MRI scanner in the United States to receive ACR Breast MRI Accreditation. The ACR(American College of Radiology) began its Breast MRI accreditation program in May 2010. Facilities must submit clinical images and corresponding data for each MRI scanner they have that performs Breast MRI exams. The images are then reviewed by a panel of board certified expert radiologists and physicists for image quality. Also reviewed are the qualifications of personnel and equipment performance. WNY MRI has acquired a “state of the art” 7 channel Invivo breast coil. The Invivo breast coil is used to perform bilateral breast MRI and MRI guided breast biopsy on our Hitachi 1.5T MRI. MRI breast imaging is used as a valuable adjunct to mammography and ultrasound for the evaluation of breast cancer. It is used to investigate the concerns detected with mammography, physical exam and ultrasound. MRI has the ability to display imaging detail 100 times greater in soft tissue contrast; therefore, it has increased sensitivity in detecting small tumors.
We offer a friendly and comfortable setting. Where, you can listen to your favorite radio station or CD/iPod on our headphones while having your procedure done.
Please call us for more information or to set up an appointment 716-855-2866.

WNY PET/CT is the first to receive ACR Accreditation for PET/CT in Western New York. WNY PET/CT in Buffalo, NY has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in PET/CT as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology. The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of the practice. Evalutations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR's Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
