Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine studies are non-invasive diagnostic and gives information about the function of a body's organ systems. A small amount of a radioactive material (radiopharmaceutical) is injected intravenously for most studies, images are taken of a particular area (bone, heart, kidneys, etc.) using a gamma camera. A radiologist interprets the studies and a report is sent directly to your doctor. The time involved varies for each test and our technologist will make you comfortable, explain the procedure, and what is involved. There are no restrictions after a Nuclear Medicine procedure.
